Important Things To Know

Rifle And Ammunition
Due to the many types of terrain encountered, as well as the size of the game hunted, a flat shooting, hard hitting caliber rifle with at least a 4-power scope is a must. We recommend a 270-300 magnum sighted in at 2 inches high at 100 yards. Shots range from 25 to 350 yards. We recommend at least two boxes of ammunition. Sighting in your rifle may be necessary after flying.

Bowhunting
We recommend lots of practice. Accuracy and shot placement are vital to the success of the hunt. Normal range varies from 10 to 50 yards. Know your equipment and practice, practice, practice.

Trophies and Meat
If you plan to send your trophies to your own taxidermist, our guides will prepare your hides and capes. We deliver the meat to a local game processor where it is cut and wrapped, then quick-frozen for shipment. No dry ice or refrigeration truck is available. We suggest taking meat as excess baggage or shipping UPS Blue Label on Monday or Tuesday. Processing deer and antelope costs $40 - $45 per animal and processing elk costs approximately $200+. Deer, antelope and elk make excellent eating.

Insurance And Responsibility
We encourage the purchase of vacation insurance covering personal property and personal injury. Many insurance companies offer such policies at modest daily rates. Although we spare no effort to assure a safe trip, an expedition of this kind is not without some risk. We do not assume responsibility for injury to clients, loss of personal belongings, or time or expenses incurred. Each hunter is required to sign a liability release before the hunt begins.

Weather
Though generally excellent for hunting, Montana weather is unpredictable. Be prepared for cold and possibly wet weather. But also be prepared to enjoy some of the most glorious fall hunting days imaginable.

Transportation
Hunters fly commercially with excellent connections to Billings, Montana where car rentals are available.

SUVs and pickup trucks are recommended to provide room for hunter, equipment and boxes or cooler for frozen meat.
